Culminating your life’s work and designing your future

To all our highly valued clients and acquaintances: Don Sardella here, Business Development Coach for Financial Advisors and beyond

Welcome to June, the official month of cheerful announcements and often elaborate ceremonies. Welcome, in other words, to the season of graduations and weddings. These two culturally significant rites of passage have a great many things in common, which often include additional reflections on our life’s work to date and designs for our future, as we all go forward.

In recent months, this topic has come up in repeated conversations with a number of people with whom I work. I’m getting more and more requests for this kind of confidential support.

These discussions include such thoughts and questions as:

  • What would it take for my life to be more fascinating? How good am I willing to have it be?
  • Interactions about middlescence, which is not only a time of frustration, confusion, and alienation but can also be a time of self-discovery, new direction, and fresh beginnings.
  • Talk about succession plans and exit strategies, as well as initiation plans for new realms of pursuits yet to unfold, where I might even amaze myself and pinch myself, with gratitude?
  • If I were to give a “stadium speech” to thousands of people, what message might I give and leave them with? What might I have done differently? What would I recommend to others?

As we all know, there are no do overs, especially with our closest, most important relationships – this is not dress rehearsal for our real life to come – this is it, happening real time, right now.

Knowing what we now know, what can and will we do, going forward? What can be my Act 2?

We know if we don’t prepare for our future, we won’t have much of a future – so, now what?

What would it take to be complete with our pasts and even more free/energized to create our brighter futures – with a blank canvass and a fresh palate of colorful paints – to access and/or unleash creative ingenuity yet to be revealed, even to ourselves and possibly to our own amazement, as it also serves as additional inspiration and information for others to fully utilize?

To my pleasant surprise, a number of clients in the last 18+ months have asked if I could work with their children – so far, it’s turned out great. In fact, I am now realizing how many more people/families are interested in this track – part of our vision/commitment to serve/develop the next generation of successful people/leaders who have/can develop not only great character and skills, but can also do extraordinary good as they are also winning in their lives.

In light of your own seasoned, reflective wisdom, what matters most? What’s really important?

For many, at this point in the game, it’s not just about the money, as important as that is. For example, one of my former mentors, Paul J. Meyer, who oversaw 44-45 businesses (to give you a flavor), as well as supported 13-16 charities, determined that his most important day of the month was their Family Reunion Day – with his 5 children, their families and his grandchildren

This is certainly similar to what I want for my one-time-gift-on-the-planet-that-life-can-be and the people I am closest to – and in service to you, we want your version of that for you and more. This includes creating multiple opportunities for you and your next generation, all who may aspire for even greater life and career success, with authentic fulfillment on your journeys.

Think it’s time for you and I to have a fresh conversation about how we (or with someone you know?) might work together, to create your next “big thing”? In fact, what is your next “big thing”? If you don’t yet know or haven’t yet determined that, what could or might it be for you?

Are you accessing an unprecedented new level of training and development, as well as mentoring and coaching support, to drive your way forward to your next level of breakthrough?

If not, what are you waiting for, if I may ask? Given that our clocks are ticking, if you and I don’t talk, is it time for you to speak with someone else, who could serve you as a trusted resource?

It could be about a turnaround for a life or business situation, once and for all. It could be other kinds of life transitions. Maybe create a new habit or a practice to master? A system to build?

I’d say it’s show time, big time – we firmly believe that you deserve to be your best and your brightest – it’s your time for the next level of the optimal, the outstanding and the remarkable.

People often report to me that coaching has helped them to better design all aspects of their lives and to better captain their own ship – I know that’s been, and continues to be, true for me

In the spirit of living your life in crescendo, we suggest you take this CFA Quality of Life 100 Self Assessment Checklist.

I look forward to an opportunity to catch up with you soon. Til’ then, here’s to your success!!

Sincerely,

Don
